A 71-YEAR-OLD MAN DIED AFTER A WRONG-WAY TRAFFIC CRASH IN PORT ST. LUCIE

A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Northwest Selvitz Road struck an oncoming vehicle that was being driven by a 71-year-old man, reported a police spokesperson in a recent interview regarding the car accident.

The man succumbed by his injuries a couple of days following the crash at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, according to Sargent John Dellacroce.

At around 6:30 pm police arrived at the scene in the 700-block of Northwest Selvitz Road.

According to reports the accident happened as a 21-year-old man drove a Toyota Camry south on Northwest Selvitz Road. A fellow 21-year-old man was a passenger in the vehicle.

The Toyota crossed over the center line and into the northbound lane, Dellacroce said. The Toyota sideswiped a Honda Civic that tried to swerve out of the way and crashed head-on with a northbound Buick Encore driven by the 71-year-old man. The driver and passenger of the Toyota and the 21-year-old driver of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Buick driver was in critical condition after the crash, but died three days later, Dellacroce said.

The crash remains under investigation.

TRUCK DRIVER INJURED IN COLLISION ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE

Two semi-truck drivers were involved in a car accident on the Florida Turnpike in Port Saint Lucie.

The accident occurred around mile marker 149 on the Florida Turnpike, just past the exit for Midway Road. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) dispatched troopers to the accident scene after receiving numerous reports from other motorists.

According to witnesses, a truck hauling lumber and traveling southbound on the highway crashed into the rear of a truck carrying photocopy machines. The lumber ended up strewn all over the highway as a result of the crash.

Thankfully, early reports indicate that there were no major injuries in the frightening rear-end

After the victim was taken to the hospital, crews worked to clear debris and remove spilled fuel from the highway. While that work was being done, FHP troopers closed down both the northbound lanes and the southbound lanes on the Florida Turnpike between Okeechobee Road and Port St. Lucie Boulevard. DRIVERS RUSH TO STOP RUNAWAY CAR IN BOYNTON BEACH

This video captured by security cameras makes it seem like it just came out of a Marvel movie. But it was no Thor or Captain America just a bunch of normal civilians sprinting into action to prevent what could have been a horrible accident.

Cars were driving through a busy South Florida intersection on Boynton Beach when a back vehicle started slowly rolling through the intersection diagonally past the stop light. A woman got out of her car and started running towards the car waving her arm at a passing motorist. A service member in a camouflage uniform trailed closely behind her; his sprint was interrupted by cars speeding past. Others joined them, leaving their own vehicles to help stop the drifting car.

The group eventually pushed the car to a nearby 7-Eleven parking lot, where a nurse provided the slumped-over driver with medical attention until a fire department crew arrived. That stranger was a woman going through a “medical episode.” she had convulsed after a mix of blood pressure pills and fasting before a medical procedure had left her dizzy. She didn’t wake up until the next day but has since recovered.

Once the black car reached the other side of the street, five people joined the woman in trying to stop it. As the group held the car at a standstill, a woman in a green shirt handed over a small dumbbell to break the glass of a rear window, allowing the pack to gain control of the vehicle.
